Caffeine History Lesson No.1
Now before anyone says anything....
The Caffeine Show, isn't one year old yet....that's in 3 weeks time...but I thought i'd remember and share with you all, my memiors our 1st ever program.
It's aired on Wednesday, 16th Feb 2005. Back then, we didn't have the resources we do now. We were far from what we play 49 weeks later (a lot less hip-hop by the way)....it's been a very quick evolution.
The Hosts on this day: Myself (Gavin Crossley) and Mahvreen Gossi.
Now, Marvs was the was and (no offence to Sam and Fidella who i do enjoy working with a lot) the most talented radio presenter/newsreader i've ever met and got the chance to work with. Marvs was probably a HUGE reason why we even got to air.....but that story is for another day.
So....after a war to get us on air (due to my previous suspension and listener complaints track record) we went to air.....the first song we ever played was Koolism's "The Grand Opening". The track also had some hidden meaning for me personally and was a special backhanded dedication to those that doubted us. Yes, i'm a nasty little bastard when prevoked.
Anyways, it also aired the now "famous" interview with "my beloved" Rosie Beaton and Marvs asking her our for me like it was Year 9 Science Class. Funny as hell listening back at it......embarrassing as all hell being there at the time.
This also featured a tame (by our standards these days) version of Tragic Songs....the first song we tackled was Chingy's "Right Thurr". Once again, listening back....i could been a lot more harsh on his lack of skills and prenouncation ability (so says the guy with the lisp). Plus, the segment which still is/was my favourite of all time "Crackin' It with Marvs" her 2 minute thesis on the little things life. Ahh, that made the show so much easier.....
I just thought i'd share that with you all.
Enjoy your Caffeine....it might just become folklore someday.
Gavin

Now that the Caffeine Show is a year old I think it's time for a change. It's getting old, time for new radical ideas. Like Appalachian Folk Music. Or a segment where you invite a venerable member of our seniors community to come and share his experiences with listeners. That should be half the show. Nothing says "street cred" like an old geezer waffling on about immigration for half an hour.
