Schvendes....










Now Schvendes are my favourite group (them and a local Perth hip-hop crew named Clandestien). They are 5 piece from Perth, Australia which mix jazz/country/indie rock and blues and smoosh that into thier sound and are fronted the finest female vocalist (IMO) EVER!!! Rachael Dease.

Now Rachael's Expressive, Dark, Sexy Vocals along with the fine instrumentation of Tristan Parr (cello), Greg Hosking (drums), Tara John (keys) and Ant Gray (guitar) make Schvendes a very interesting listen......think Nick Cave breeds with PJ Harvey and you get the general idea.

They have 1 EP and a single behind them.....the EP (Turn Out Your Lights) featured the Caffeine Show Song of the Year "Turn Out Your Lights" (obviously, the title track). The single "Twice The Man" was released recently upon us last December and has featured on many a Caffeine Show since then. They also have just been nominated for 9 "WAMI's" (W.A Music Industry Awards) which the most out of any of the acts nominated this year. The fellows nominees include The Panics, Gyroscope, Little Birdy and Eskimo Joe which is a helluva field to compete with. I personally believe they can pinch a couple. They have also just finished thier 1st Eastern States tour.
