The Reasonable Things.....

Returns for Part 2...

this week Reasonable thing....

NBA JAM!!

The Single Greatest Video Game EVER!!!! (IMO)

This game was great for a young loner kid who was (and still) is obsessed with the game of Basketball. This game was released in 1993-94 by Accliam, and sold MILLIONS of copies. This and Mortal Kombat (a future Reasonable Thing Candidate) were the craze of every kid when they dropped in stores (that and Power Rangers of which i hated)....my mohter would literally drag me away from the T.V when i was "done"....i.e when she sick of me playing the fucking game.

I literally spent whole days parked in front of the T.V playing this game regliously. I just wanted to crush my foes....computer, my basketball team chums (Camberwarra Cats, baby!!!), my brother, rellies, they all went down to this obsessed ultra-competitive child (who now has been diagnosed with white-line fever). I was quite good at the game....i'd wanna have been too....i played it enough.

I still remember completing the game and beating the Chicago Bulls (the boss team minus Micheal Jordan).... I ran around the house like I'd won Olympic Gold....It was a very happy day for this 1o yr old. I had never won anything....EVER!

After that day.....i didn't play it that much except when "the team" dropped over, then we'd whip it out and play the game with all the secret characters and such which you earned by winning the game.

This was a fantastic game....and hey it kept me out of trouble and kerbed me beating up my brother (who now towers over me) for a good 3 months.....then a game callled NBA Live 95 came along which stole my attention and remained that way for next year or so.

But there are great "memories" involved in this game......god damn i missed being 10.
Regards

Caffeine History Lesson No.2

Shave For A Cure: Gav Loses His Hair

Now our loyal listenership would maybe know about our first OB that The Caffeine were involved in, was a broadcast for "Shave For A Cure" last year. I announced on the show previous to this event that I was going to shave my head for the cause.....me having a full head of hair and always looking for a cheap way of doing shit I though "Screw It, Lets Do It" and ran with the ball and ran up some support. I eventually raised $158.

I honestly thought they we're going to keep some hair on my scalp.....like "1" or something, but when i got there with Marvs in company and a mini disc recorder in hand.....(she record various interviews with randoms and she even convinced a bystander to have his head shaved) i was prepared for having the hair stripped from my supposedly well shaped head.

As soon as the first buzz of those clippers went through my hair....i knew something was not quite right.......5 minutes later.........i was completely bald. I'd gone normal Gav (whatever the hell that means) to a cast member of "Romper Stomper" without the race hate and homophobia.

I wish i had a photo of shiny VERY white head....I did once, but these things vanish with time and deliberate acts of sabotage.....

Another Story from the Halls of the Caffeine.....next week.
