The Reasonable Things.....

Part 3....

Yet another Video Game.....i spent the majority of my childhood playing them (that and playing Basketball)....this week video game that also was a cultural phenomon. MORTAL KOMKAT.

It's spawned various spin off games and 2 VERY shit movies (believe on the fact that i have seen them both) and much much more.

This happens to be the lead up to one the most hilariously stupid fights scenes in the history of cinema...hmmm mud pit brawl....
(pic taken from Mortal Kombat: Annilhation...one of the worst movies ever made!!!......seriously Porn has better scripts than that movie)

Once Again...this game has sold MILLIONS!!! of copies....and it's sequels and spin-offs and the fan fiction, animated series' and those 2 shocking movies.

I first witnessed Mortal Kombat in action at Craigie Bowl back in 1993 as a tender young (LIES!!!) 9 yr old. Some guy was playing it....i saw voilence so i had closer look. What i saw was, punches and kicks and BLOOD!!! lots of blood....and people killing thier opponant at the end of the fight (Sub Zero ripping some poor bastards head and holding it skyward).

"Hey look what found!!" (what i witnessed that fateful night).

I was enthralled.....VIOLENCE!!!!!....something i craved so much in video game and at this level....i was in love....

I knew at 9 though....my mother would NEVER let me own a game this voilent. I was already enough of a violent little brat as it was. My friends though had copies or we hired them out and we played and fought and murdered each other (on screen) to our heart's delight.

Note: I always VERY shit at this game....

I don't think when Rachael Dease from Schvendes sung "I'm Twice the Man you'll ever be" she meant this....

My favourite 3 of the games were the original lot....Mortal Kombat 1, 2 and 3...and the playstation1 effort of Mortal Kombat Trilogy (pretty much moosh every character created at that point plus some new ones into a game and kill KILLL them all!!!).

You could go on for hours about this game and fly off into tangents about, the franchise it's become how utterly shit and disappointing the movies were (but what do you expect from a video game adaptation).

It was good, messy fun and once again one of those things worth reminising about.

Finish HIM!!!
